Aubrey Peanut Festival October 5, 2019. Although peanut harvesting in the Aubrey area is in the past, area citizens have gathered in the town of Aubrey for an annual salute to the peanut as a part of their heritage since 1986. Peanut pride has grown over the years that an estimated 8,000 visitors enjoy the free day-long festival. Attractions include: • The parade which begins the day at 10:00 am, with citizens of the area riding past the spectators who line Main Street. The parade is led by the award winning high school marching band and is followed by representatives of all organizations and businesses in the area. • Entertainment will include local singing artists, strolling magicians. Live musical entertainment will continue into the evening with a street dance. • There will be many games and activities for all ages. • The peanut has a prominent position in the festival, with participants lined up for the peanut shelling contest, peanut butter sandwich eating contest, peanut shelling contest, peanut cooking contest and photo contest. • There will be various food booths including barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs and other foods. • There are over 100 booths with arts and crafts, specialty items, information and other merchandise items available. There will be live music all day long extending into the evening. After the festivities of the day, visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and cooler and enjoy live music into the evening, and dance in the streets of downtown Aubrey.
